July's Republican of the Month

Mike Craddock recently joined the Tulsa Republican Club Board as the Social Chairman. For those of you who know Mike, you know he is a thoughtful guy whose humor will keep you on your toes. And if you haven't had the chance to meet Mike at one of our monthly club luncheons, well, here you go!

Why did you become a Republican?
I became of voting age in the middle of Pres. Carter's term, enough said! My parents were Republican but not really active. Of the five kids in my family, I am the only one who is more of an activist.

What's your favorite: book, movie, tv show, color, food and time of day?

Movies - The Patriot, Saving Private Ryan, Remember the Titans, Support your Local Sheriff. "Earn This" from SPR, great line. My Dad took me to see Patton when I was 12, oh my! Love the movie.
TV show - The Unit, Hawaii Five-O. OK, so I am old.
Color - Orange of course.
Food - WALT'S CHAMPAGNE CHICKEN SALAD from Charleston's and Brownies Hamburgers.
Time of Day - Saturday Morning. Coffee and paper on the Veranda.

As the President of the Oklahoma Association of Realtors, what's the best part of your job?

Meeting fellow Realtors, as my main goal this year I am visiting the 25 local Board of Realtors around the state and as of the end of July I have been 22 so far. This has not been accomplished in almost 20 years by an OAR Officer. Guymon to Grove to Altus to Durant to B'ville. It has been a lot of work and driving but it is all worth it when I get to meet and talk to the great people of this wonderful state.

What is your most memorable experience with a famous Republican?

I have had the opportunity to go to Washington DC for the past few years and to meet with the Oklahoma Delegation. All of them have never failed to work time into their schedule to talk. Sen. Inhofe is so gracious with his time and if the timing is right he will take you over to the Chambers and Senate side room.

As the father of 7, what are the most important things your children have taught you?
I have 7 children?
That my English education in OKC public school system was lacking. My 5 year old corrects my English.

If you could have dinner with 3 people (living or dead) who would it be?
Jesus Christ - to just thank Him for the mercy and grace.
Ronald Reagan - to thank him for the history and humor.
Grandpa Jack Craddock - to thank him for teaching me to walk and to talk about his being Mayor of Pueblo, CO and running a newspaper.

From Mike: Just a note of thanks to my brother, Doug who just retired as a Special Forces Lt. Colonel after 25 years of service.
